Verse Of The Day : Instead I subdue my body and make it my slave, so that after preaching to others I myself will not be disqualified. 1 Corinthians 9:27 NET
LISTEN : Every game has a rule or rules as the case may be, and contestants are judged based on the rules of the game. It does not matter how well a contestant may have done. Once the rule of the game is undermined or broken, the person in question risks being disqualified and denied his or her supposed prize or reward. Similarly, as Christians, we should play by the rules of the kingdom, lest we be disqualified after our labour and service here on earth. Apostle Paul was concerned about this when he said, “Each competitor must exercise self-control in everything. They do it to receive a perishable crown, but we an imperishable one. So I do not run uncertainly or box like one who hits only air. Instead I subdue my body and make it my slave, so that after preaching to others I myself will not be disqualified.” (1 Corinthians 9:25-27 NET). My dear, do you know it is possible to ‘serve God’ and still be eternally rejected? Mind what you do! Never pretend your service to God or do what He does not ask you to do. When you pretend your service to God, and serve your interests instead of He’s, be sure to be disqualified and rejected forever. Are you a preacher of the gospel? Preach to save, not just to impress. Are you a follower of Jesus Christ? Follow to be saved, not just to identify with the Christian faith. Be wise!

TOPIC : A FAITHFUL HEARER
Saturday, July 28, 2018
Bible Verse : But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. James 1:22
LISTEN: Beloved, are you a faithful hearer of God’s word? A faithful hearer is a doer of the word. Going to church is not a guarantee that you are a genuine child of God. True children of God are known for their willingness to obey and serve God with their whole hearts. (Matthew 7:21). They are not mere hearers but doers of the word of God. They are not just churchgoers but Kingdom citizens. They are not forgetful hearers but hearers with a difference. My dear, do you know that churchgoing will only make people church members, but faithfulness to God will make them Kingdom citizens? Therefore, as children of God, our lives should influence those living in darkness not the other way round. We should attract the unbelieving world to our faith in Christ by the way we live. When we go to church but refused to be transformed by the word of God, we deceive ourselves. Truly, self-deception is the worst form of deception. So, having received forgiveness for our sins through the death of Jesus Christ, we should make an effort to grow our faith and sustain our salvation. The Bible says, ” So then, my beloved, even as you have always obeyed, not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.” (Philippians 2:12). Beloved, as you hear, read, study or meditate on the word of God this time, determine to live in obedience to the word of God. Be wise!
1. Thank God for a wonderful day.
2. Ask Him for forgiveness and restoration.
3. Ask God for grace to obey and honour His word.
4. Cancel every satanic plans against your life and thank God for prayer answered.
May the Lord bless you. May the Lord grant you the grace to obey and honour His word, in Jesus’ name, amen.
God bless you. See you tomorrow.
