Verse Of The Day :… but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister: And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all. Mark 10:43-44

LISTEN : What the world regards as greatness is nothing before God. No matter one’s wealth, power, fame or position, no one is truly great until he or she is great in doing the will of God. One of the ways to be great is to serve. Genuine service is “a ladder” to greatness. Hence, not to serve is not to excel. To serve means to minister to others, attending to and waiting upon others, caring for, and serving the needs of others. Sadly, only a few people are humble enough to serve others. A lot of people believe that serving others will downgrade their status and reputation. They fail to understand that serving others will increase their worth in the society. Beloved, are you truly serving others? Are you putting the best interests and needs of others before yours? Do you esteem others higher than yourself? (Philippians 2:3-4; Romans 12:10). In His message to His disciples, Jesus Christ our role model of how to serve others urged them (His disciples) to dedicate themselves to serving others if they must achieve true greatness. In the same way, we should serve others no matter what. We must stop being selfish and start to be selfless and sacrificial. That is the lifestyle of Christ Jesus and we should live like Him. (Mark 10:45). So, learn to serve others in your family, church, society, nation and the world at large as you have the opportunity. Be wise!

Having read today’s devotional, what is expected of you?
1. Learn to serve others and be a blessing to them in any capacity.
2. Stop being selfish and start to be selfless and sacrificial in your approach to life.
3. Study the life of Jesus Christ towards others and pray for grace to follow His foot steps.

Prayer Almighty God, you are great and wants us to be great. Help me to know what it means to be great in your sight, and to obey your will by serving others, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Reflection : Genuine service is “a ladder” to greatness; hence, not to serve is not to excel.

Quote “No matter one’s wealth, power, fame or position, no one is truly great until he or she is greatly delighted to do the will of God.”

Faith Confession : Today, I acknowledged that true greatness comes from serving God and others. Therefore, I will serve others with my God-given abilities, and worship God with all my heart, amen.

Biblical Fact : Did you know the three sons of Zeruiah who were in David’s army were Joab, Abishai and Asahel? (2 Samuel 2:18).

Today In History : August 26, 1966 South African Defense Force troops attack a People’s Liberation Army of Namibia unit at Omugulugwombashe, the first battle of the 22-year Namibian War of Independence.

Stunning Fact : Did you know squirrels can climb trees faster than they can run on the ground?

Prophetic Declaration : You will make a difference. Today I prophesy to you, it is well with you. May your life be a blessing to others and glory to God, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Bible Verse : I rejoice at your word, as one that finds great spoil. Psalms 119:162

LISTEN : Different people have different things that make them happy. However, when what makes them happy disappear they suffer heartbreak. Beloved, to be continuously happy we should embrace the word of God. Does the word of God excites you? Do you know God’s word is key to life. God’s word is life. His word should trigger joy in us because it comes with countless benefits. However, we cannot enjoy these benefits until we have developed hunger for the word. When we hunger for His word we will draw strength from it. What does it mean to hunger for God’s word? It means to be excited by God’s word and to long for righteousness. The Psalmist said, ”I rejoice at your word, as one that finds great spoil.” (Psalms 119:162) So, if you cannot find joy in God’s word you do not have hunger for it. You should value God’s word more than self- satisfaction and above all else. Job said, “I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food” (Job 23:12). Beloved, when God’s Word is as important to you as your physical food, then you will grow in your Christian life and knowledge of God. My dear, may your heart not be spiritually dry and empty of God’s Word. Be wise!

1. Thank the Lord for today and the gift of life.
2. Ask God for forgiveness and restoration.
3. Pray God to give you a heart for His word.
4. Pray and cancel every evil plot against you, and thank God for answering your prayer.

Today, I prophesy to you, it is well with you. May the Lord give you a heart for His word, in Jesus’ name, amen.

  1. Thank you for reminding me to hunger for the Word of God. This is a problem for me right now. Then when I eat the Word of God, I will esteem others. Then when I esteem others, I will DO the Word of God. Then when I DO the Word of God, people will see who Jesus really is and want and seek Him for themselves. Thank you for your two posts, my dear brother.
