Verse Of The Day : Look, he has placed the land in front of you! Go up, take possession of it, just as the LORD, the God of your ancestors, said to do. Do not be afraid or discouraged! Deuteronomy 1:21

LISTEN : When the Israelites left the land of Egypt and wandered in the wilderness for years, and finally arrived at Kadesh Barnea, a hill country belonging to the Amorites which is part of the land God was about to give to them. (Deuteronomy 1:20). Moses said to them, “Look, he has placed the land in front of you! Go up, take possession of it, just as the LORD, the God of your ancestors, said to do. Do not be afraid or discouraged!” (Deuteronomy 1:21). The Israelites like many of us, seemed to have forgotten God’s promises to them. Moses had to remind them that it is their responsibility to arise and go for what God has already given to them. Beloved, you cannot obtain the promises of God by folding your hands and doing nothing. You must do your part to obtain it. You should go for your God-given possessions by faith. Firstly, you must overcome fear and discouragement. Moses urged them thus : “Do not be afraid or discouraged!” (v 21b). Fear will stop you when you take your eyes off God. Yes! Fear is a great force that is capable of crippling even the strongest person who chooses to walk in fear. So, to excel in life you must overcome your fears and discouragement. Tell yourself that God is with you, therefore, you will triumph over all obstacles to your success. My dear, rise! You have been in one place for a long time. (Deuteronomy 1:6-8). It is time to conquer new grounds and territories. Keep moving! God is with you. Be wise!

Having read today’s devotional, what is expected of you?

TOPIC : A DOER OF THE WORD

Bible Verse : But be you doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. James 1:22

LISTEN: Knowledge is useless without application. What we hear should impact our lives. In the same way, we should both hear and do the word of God. Doers of the word of God are faithful hearers and not mere churchgoers. True children of God are known for their willingness to obey and serve God with their whole hearts. (Matthew 7: 21). They are not mere hearers but doers of the word of God. They are not just churchgoers but Kingdom citizens. They are not forgetful hearers but doers of the word of God. Beloved, do you know that churchgoing will only make you a church member, but faithfulness to God will make you a Kingdom citizen? Therefore, as children of God, our lives should influence those living in darkness not the other way round. We should attract the unbelieving world to our faith in Christ by the way we live. But when we go to church but refused to be transformed by the word of God, we deceive ourselves. Beloved, self-deception is the worst form of deceit. Therefore, having received forgiveness for our sins through the death of Jesus Christ, we should make efforts to grow our faith and sustain our salvation. The Bible says, “So then, my beloved, even as you have always obeyed, not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.” (Philippians 2:12). Beloved, be determined to be a doer of God’s word no matter what. Be wise!
