Verse Of The Day: Marriage must be honored among all and the marriage bed kept undefiled, for God will judge sexually immoral people and adulterers. Hebrews 13:4

LISTEN: Does marriage mean anything to us today? Has its sanctity not been violated by societies of today? With the trend of infidelity, divorce, homosexuality, lust, etc., has marriage not been bereft of its purpose? Where is the commitment to marriage when the hearts of marriage partners are divided against themselves? It is so sad that marriage has been defiled as a result of unfaithfulness, lack of self-conrol and understanding of marriage partners! Most couples exchanged marriage vows in deceit and treachery before the Lord and their audiences; and therefore, could not hesitate to break their marital vows because they do not understand what marriage is all about. Beloved, marriage is God’s plan for humanity. Marriage is sweet, but only when the people involved have discovered how sweet it is, and what is needed to make it work. The Bible says, “By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established.” (Proverbs 24:3). This is where many marriage partners get it wrong. They neglect wise counsels in favour of their own selfish desires. My dear, building a good marriage relationship is not easy, it comes with a huge sacrifice and commitment. You need the fear of God, wisdom and understanding to enjoy marriage. Marriage should be honoured by all. Those who dishonour God cannot honour their marriage. Therefore, to honour your marriage, you must first acknowledge that God is interested in it. The Bible says, “Marriage must be honored among all and the marriage bed kept undefiled, for God will judge sexually immoral people and adulterers.” (Hebrews 13:4). Friend, marriage will lose its value when we choose to follow our own will at the expense of God’s purpose for our lives. Remember, God will judge those who treat marriage with dishonour. Be wise!

Having read today’s devotional, what is expected of you?
1. Honour God in your body and respect your marriage vows if you are married.
2. Shun infidelity in marriage and strive to uphold the sanctity of marriage.
3. Always remember that God will judge those who are unfaithful to their marriage vows.
4. Do not compromise the sacredness of marriage; instead, be an example of a godly marriage partner.

Prayer: Blessed Father, you are holy and loves holiness. Therefore, help me to be holy in my body, in my marriage, and in all I do, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Reflection: The sacredness of marriage has been compromised by the society. Marriage couples cheat on one another and defile their ‘matrimonial beds’ against the knowledge of God.

Quote: “Marriage is God’s idea. Hence, those who dishonour God cannot honour their marriage.”

Faith Confession : Today, I confess that marriage is sacred, and should be kept sacred. Therefore, I will maintain holiness in my marriage, and honour God in my body as long as I live, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Biblical Fact: Did you know God is merciful and also a consuming fire? (Hebrews 12:29) .

Today In History: November 30, 1974 India and Pakistan decide to end a 10-year trade ban.

Stunning Fact: Did you know when baby polar bear cubs are born they cannot see or hear for their first month?

A Word Of Blessing : You will make a difference. Today I speak over your life, may you honour God in your body, and offer yourself as a living sacrifice to Him as long as you live, in Jesus’ name, amen.

EVENING

TOPIC : HEAR AND OBEY THE WORD OF GOD

Friday, November 30, 2018

Bible Verse : But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. James 1:22

LISTEN: Do you hear and obey the word of God? Are you a faithful or forgetful hearer of God’s Word? A faithful hearer is a doer of the word, but a forgetful hearer is one who hears and fails to obey. My dear, going to church is not a guarantee that you are a genuine child of God. True children of God are known for their willingness to obey and serve God with their whole hearts. (Matthew 7:21). They are not mere hearers but doers of the word of God. They are not just churchgoers but Kingdom citizens. They are not forgetful hearers but hearers with a difference. My dear, do you know that churchgoing will only make you a church member, but faithfulness to God will make you a Kingdom citizen? Therefore, as children of God, our lives should influence those living in darkness not the other way round. We should attract the unbelieving world to our faith in Christ by the way we live. When we go to church but refused to be transformed by the word of God, we deceive ourselves. Truly, self-deception is the worst form of deception. So, having received forgiveness for our sins through the death of Jesus Christ, we should make an effort to grow our faith and sustain our salvation. The Bible says, “So then, my beloved, even as you have always obeyed, not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.” (Philippians 2:12).Beloved, as you hear, read, study or meditate on the word of God this time, determine to live in obedience to the word of God. Be wise!

PRAYER POINTS
1. Thank God for a wonderful day.
2. Ask Him for forgiveness and restoration.
3. Ask God for grace to obey and honour His word.
4. Cancel every satanic plans against your life and thank God for prayer answered.

A WORD OF BLESSING
May the Lord bless you. May the Lord grant you the grace to obey and honour His word, in Jesus’ name, amen.
