Author : Bishop Julius Okarike

Verse Of The Day : When he came and saw the grace of God, he rejoiced and encouraged them all to remain true to the Lord with devoted hearts. Acts 11:23

LISTEN : Our service to God is worthless if it lacks devotion (John 4:24). Devotion is the beauty of worship to God. Friend, God is not attracted to those who offer a lip service to Him. He is only committed to those who are committed to Him. He loves those who are devoted to Him. Those who serve Him with a devoted heart will unfailingly experience His loving-kindness. What does it mean to be devoted? It means, having strong love or loyalty for something or someone. Truly, what one is devoted to takes one’s time and heart. If you are devoted to God, nothing will make sense to you if it does not make sense to God. My dear, to walk with God you must be devoted to Him. You must surrender yourself to Him despite the pressure to do otherwise. Our faith and relationship with Christ is priceless and should be protected no matter what. Even in a situation that constantly pressures us to deny our faith, we should still keep an uncompromising devotion to God through it all. Beloved, are you genuinely devoted to God with your heart, and not just with your mouth? Do you ever evaluate your Christian walk with Jesus? Beloved, without devotion to God we will end up deceiving ourselves like the Israelites of the days of Prophet Ezekiel did. The Bible says thus: “My people come to you, as they usually do, and sit before you and listen to your words, but they do not put them into practice. With their mouths they express devotion, but their hearts are greedy for unjust gain.” (Ezekiel 33:31). Henceforth, let us be real with God. God does not deserve a divided attention. Let us makeover our behaviour and give Him the worship and loyalty that He deserves. Be wise!

Having read today’s devotional, what is expected of you?
1. Be devoted to God with your heart and not just with your mouth.
2. Evaluate your relationship with God to know whether you are still in tune with Him or not.
3. Do not surrender to the pressure to deny your faith, instead, be strong no matter what.
4. Do not pretend your faith in Christ, instead, be real and show the world that you belong to Christ.

Prayer : Almighty God, you are worthy of praise and worship. Therefore, help me to devote my life to you as long as I live, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Reflection : God loves those who are devoted to Him ; hence, those who serve Him with a devoted heart will unfailingly experience His loving-kindness.

Bible Verse : And he says unto them follow me and I will make you fishers of men Matt 4:19

LISTEN : My dear, have you abandoned your God-given assignment? Have you forgotten you are called to save the lost for Christ. Yes, we are called to proclaim the good news of the kingdom. As Jesus Christ begins His earthly ministry shortly after He ended his forty days fast in the wilderness. He encountered two brothers at the sea of Galilee, Simon called Peter and Andrew his brother as they were doing their normal fishing business, for they were fishermen. He said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men” (v.19). Beloved, Jesus called them so He could train them in winning souls to the kingdom of God. Upon hearing Him, they left all and followed Him. Jesus transformed them into useful instruments for the kingdom of God. He (Jesus) made them both earthly and heavenly useful. He changed them from fishermen to soul winners; not just soul winners, but determined soul winners who understood that time is too short and sinners must be saved to God. My dear, are you a Christian (a believer in Jesus Christ)? As a follower of Jesus Christ, have you won a soul to Him? If not, what are you waiting for? Do you know you are called to spread the gospel of the kingdom of God? Beloved, be serious in the service of God. Do not allow anything to deter you from following Christ and saving souls to Him. So, just press on! Your reward awaits you at His coming. (Hebrews 6:10). Remember, you are called to save others. Be wise!

1. Pray and bless God for His love and protection.
2. Ask God for forgiveness and mercy.
3. Pray God to make you a committed and zealous soul winner.
4. Pray and destroy all satanic plans against you and your family tonight.

It is well with you. May God make you a committed and consistent soul winner. May your labour and service to God not be in vain; and may your sleep tonight be sweet and safe, in Jesus’ name, amen.
