Verse Of The Day : For who has despised the day of small things? Zechariah 4:10

LISTEN : Everything big starts small. Life is made up of small things, and without small things there can never be great things. Those who value small things will make the most of life. Our Bible verse today refers to Zerubbabel. Zerubbabel was a governor of the Persian Province of Judah. He led the first group of Jews, who returned from the Babylonian captivity in the first year of Cyprus, King of Persian. Zerubbabel laid the foundation of the second temple in Jerusalem soon after, because he received a sanction to do that. Many of the Jews considered the project of rebuilding the temple as impossible, but God assures Zerubbabel that his (Zerubbabel’s) hands will both lay the foundations of the temple and finish it. (Zechariah 4:9). He started small but eventually accomplished the big project. Those who doubted him were ashamed because the hands of God made everything possible. Beloved, like Zerubbabel, you can equally begin your God-given projects today. Do not wait until everything is complete. Start small and progress with it. My dear, do you know that, that small thing, (perhaps your talents, career, business, etc.) you despise, is the link to your greatness? My dear, little things create wonders. How? You may ask! The small rod of Moses delivered Israel from bondage (Exodus 4:1-9) ; just five stones of David brought down the giant Goliath (1 Samuel 17) , and a handful of meal and a jar of oil sustained a widow through years of famine (2Kings 4:1-7). Friend, learn to use what you have. Stretch your faith. Begin small like the mustard seed and you will expand and conquer territories. Be wise!

Having read today’s devotional, what is expected of you?
1. Do not waste your time trying to start big, rather start small and progress to greater heights.

Today In History : January 12, 1932 Oliver Wendell Holmes retires from the Supreme Court at age 90.

EVENING

TOPIC : I LOVE YOU LORD MY SOURCE OF STRENGTH

Saturday, January 12, 2019

Bible Verse : He said: “I love you, LORD, my source of strength! Psalms 18:1

LISTEN: The godly acknowledges God as his or her source of strength. Acknowledging God as our source of strength will move us to express our love for Him. We will obey, trust, honour, worship and serve Him because He is everything to us. Beloved, do you love God? Is your faith in God genuine? Can you sincerely declare your love for God? Can you be proud to declare to your family members, colleagues, friends, the society and the world your loyalty and love for God? (Joshua 24:15). David spake to the LORD these words the day that the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul. He declares his love for God and ascribes his victories to Him. David calls God “my strength.” He acknowledges that he is powerless and nothing without God. He knows that he overcomes his enemies not by his battle skills, sophisticated weapons, intelligence, or trusted allies, but through the power of God. Sadly, a lot of people often ascribe their victories and successes to humans or “ their deities.” They fail to acknowledge God as their source of strength. Their love is in something else. Beloved, do you love God? Is He the source of your strength? Like David, can you boldly declare your love for God? Henceforth, let us declare our love for God as the strength of our lives. Be wise!

3. Pray for grace to love God above all else.

A WORD OF BLESSING
