Verse Of The Day : Enter through the narrow gate, because the gate is wide and the way is spacious that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. But the gate is narrow and the way is difficult that leads to life, and there are few who find it. Matthew 7:13-14

LISTEN : Life is a journey, and time is the vehicle that takes everyone of us on this journey. But how we arrive at our destinations is determined by the roads we choose to travel on (sin or faith in Christ Jesus) (Deuteronomy 30:19). The choice we make in this journey (life) will determine how we will end. A wrong choice will lead to a tragic and regrettable end; but a right choice will lead to a blissful and commendable end. Beloved, you are not expected to make any mistakes that will cost you your life in eternity (Romans 6:23). We have been warned to avoid careless lifestyle, but rather live soberly in full obedience to God. However, it is not possible to live in line with God’s will if we are not willing to surrender our own will to Him. It is impossible for anyone whose thoughts is consumed by the pleasures of this world to obey God (Romans 8:8 ; 1 Corinthians 2:14). For our sake Jesus warns, “Enter through the narrow gate, because the gate is wide and the way is spacious that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. But the gate is narrow and the way is difficult that leads to life, and there are few who find it.” (Matthew 7:13-14). The word of God warns that the evil wide road (sin, evil trends, fads, values, lifestyles, pleasures of sin, etc.) will lead to destruction. Sadly, majority of people love to travel on this road. They love death more than life. My dear, is it the choice you want to make for yourself? The choice of eternal destruction? Why not go for eternal life? Though the road is difficult and stressful, but the end is blissful. Friend, if you are determined to suffer with Christ Jesus now, you will equally reign with him at the right time. Be wise!

Having read today’s devotional, what is expected of you?
1. Do not travel in the highway of sin because it leads to destruction.
2. Heed the voice of God and avoid wrong association and enticement.

Reflection : The choice we make in the journey of life will determine how we will end. A wrong choice will lead to a tragic and regrettable end; but a good choice will lead to a life of bliss.

TOPIC : APART FROM ME YOU CAN DO NOTHING

Wednesday, January 30, 2019

Bible Verse : I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me, and I in him, the same bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. John 15:5

LISTEN: Jesus stated categorically to his disciples that they (we) can do nothing without him. Which means that, to walk apart from Jesus Christ is a project directed towards failure. God wants us to be fruitful, that is, He wants us to produce good results and become abundantly productive. Therefore, we should abide in him to achieve that purpose. God wants us to be productive for His kingdom. He wants us to impact lives around the world and turn them over to Him. Beloved, God’s desire for us is to faithfully serve Him by spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ around the world, and consistently live in line with His will. However, we cannot achieve all these until we have chosen to connect and commit ourselves to Him. Our Bible verse says, “I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me, and I in him, the same bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5). Beloved, we draw our strength from God. Hence, fruitfulness in the Christian faith will be practically impossible if the believer is disconnected from Christ the source of supernatural strength and life. We have no strength without the help of the Holy Spirit. My dear, are you faithful to Jesus Christ? Are you really doing what God expects of you? Are you truly depending on Him for strength and direction? If not, please wake up and follow the LORD’S voice today. Remember, you can do nothing without Him. Be wise!

PRAYER POINTS
1. Pray and bless God for His love and protection.
2. Ask God for forgiveness and mercy.
3. Pray God to give you the heart to know that you are nothing without Him.
4. Pray and destroy all satanic plans against you and your family and thank God for answering your prayers.

A WORD OF BLESSING
Today I prophesy to you, may you be ever connected to the Spirit of God; and may this today brings you joy, peace and rest, in Jesus’ name, amen.
