Verse Of The Day : For it has been granted to you not only to believe in Christ but also to suffer for him. Philippians 1:29

LISTEN : Many Christians today are no longer willing to suffer for Christ Jesus, because the messages most of us preachers of the gospel give to our congregations suggests they are not called to suffer for Christ, but just to receive God’s blessings. (Acts 14:22). Many people attend church today just to be favoured, receive grace to secure a job, flourish in business, get married, secure admission into school of higher learning, conceive and have their own babies, get healed of sicknesses and diseases, etc. Just very few are in church to serve the purpose of God. (Romans 14:17,18). My dear, are you a believer in Christ Jesus? Please, do not only believe in him, but rather be willing to suffer for him too. Believing in Jesus Christ but refusing to suffer for him will amount to self-deception and hypocrisy. If you believe that Jesus Christ is your Lord and Saviour, then be willing to give your all for his name. Whatever you must do to spread the gospel of the kingdom of God, do not be deterred by any circumstance (persecution, trials, sickness, rejection, frustration, temptations, hardship, terrorism, etc). Just press on because God is on your side. The devil does not want to hear us preach the gospel of Christ because it is a threat to his kingdom (the kingdom of darkness). That is why he is using those who have sold their souls to him to oppose the spread of the gospel. But as determined children of God we cannot bow to the devil’s threat. Death or alive the will of God for humanity must prevail. Beloved, always be ready to carry your cross and follow Jesus Christ. Never quit your faith because the race is hard, instead press on to the finish line because the prize is worthwhile. (2 Timothy 2:12). Be wise!

Having read today’s devotional, what is expected of you?
1. Be willing to carry your cross and follow Jesus Christ no matter what.
2. Do not quit your faith because of persecution and trials, instead rise more and more in courage.
3. Understand that your walk with Jesus Christ is not just about what you will get, but to take part in spreading the gospel.
4. Do not only believe in Christ Jesus, but also be prepared to suffer for him.

Prayer : Blessed Father, I thank you for all you have done to me. Therefore, help me to spread the gospel of the kingdom in appreciation to your love for me, in Jesus ‘ name, amen.

Reflection : Believing in Jesus Christ but refusing to suffer for him is a show of hypocrisy and cowardice.

Quote : “Never quit your faith because the race is hard, instead press on to the finish line because the prize is worthwhile.”

Faith Confession : Today, I acknowledge that those who believe in Jesus Christ should suffer for him too. Therefore, I will not be discouraged when I suffer for the gospel of the kingdom of God, amen.

Biblical Fact : Did you know Balaam was spoken to by a donkey? (Numbers 22:22-35).

Today In History : January 31, 1835 A man with two pistols misfires at President Andrew Jackson at the White House.

Stunning Fact: Did you know flushable toilets were in use in ancient Rome?

A Word Of Blessing : You are blessed. Today I speak into your life, may God bless you and make you ever ready for the work of His kingdom as long as you live, in Jesus name, amen.

EVENING

TOPIC : THE WORLD IS PRECIOUS TO GOD

Thursday, January 31, 2019

Bible Verse : For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

LISTEN: The world (humankind) is precious to God. As a matter of fact, no one loves the world like God does. God’s love for the world took Jesus Christ to the cross. God gave him up willingly for us to be saved. (Romans 8:32). Jesus Christ bore the weight of our sins on the cross because God loves us. Our well-being was His concern when He put on Jesus Christ the sin of us all. Jesus died to save and bring us back to God. His death brings us spiritual and bodily healing (Isaiah 53:5). God loves us even when we rejected and hated Him; because He is not like human, He loves even the unlovable. Beloved, in Christ, God gave His all. He loved us and still loves us in spite of our sins and misdeeds. Hence, it will be unfair to reject his love which He demonstrated in Christ Jesus. His love for us cost Him the very life of His Son, and through Jesus Christ, He gives us assurance of eternal life when we believe and stand with Him to the very end. (John 3:16). My dear, Jesus Christ died because He loves us, therefore, we should love God because Jesus Christ died for us. Remember, the world is precious to God, and so it should be to us. We should love others just the way God loves them. Above all, show others the way of life which is only in Christ Jesus alone and the Lord will bless you. Be wise!

PRAYER POINTS
1. Bless God for today no matter what.
2. Ask God for forgiveness, and grace to follow His will.
3. Pray for grace to acknowledge God’s love to you.
4. Intercede for believers in Christ around the world for grace to love God.
5. Pray against spiritual wickedness, and ask God to keep you safe.

A WORD OF BLESSING
Today I prophesy to you, may you acknowledge the love of God. May the Lord show you the path of life and order your steps in the right direction, in Jesus’ name, amen.
