ALWAYS TALKING ABOUT GOD’S LOVE

Author : Bishop Julius Okarike

Verse Of The Day : But I will sing of your power; yea, I will sing aloud of your mercy in the morning: for you have been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble. Psalms 59:16

LISTEN : A man asks his friend who is obsessed with God thus: “Friend, what has God done for you that you are always thinking and talking about Him?” His friend replied, “When I think of His power in the universe, and His mercy to me a sinner, I can’t help but praise and publicly talk about Him. He is my defence and refuge in time of trouble. Friend, if you keep thinking about your problems, you will not realise how good God has been to you. When your heart is occupied with your problems, your eyes will be blind to the goodness of God towards you.” His words ‘opened the eyes’ of his friend to the goodness of God, who thereon exclaimed, “Friend, I have not been fair to God! I have been so ungrateful and have taken His grace for granted.” Beloved, this is how a lot of people respond to God’s goodness. They hardly appreciate or talk about the goodness of God (Luke 17:11-49). They don’t have time to sing His praise or declare His power to the world. They don’t consider the power of God, His mercy towards them and His protection and security over their lives. Rather than talk about the power, mercy, defence and the love of God to them, they murmur about everything; despise the grace of God, reject His instructions, and put confidence in their own abilities. Beloved, don’t be ungrateful to God. Instead, like David in our verse of the day, sing of His power; tell the world of His goodness and mercy, and rejoice in His love. Never keep silence on the good works of God to the world, rather, let the world know that, not to acknowledge and appreciate the love of God is to take God for granted. Be wise!

EVENING

TOPIC : KEEP MOVING

Thursday, April 4, 2019

Bible Verse : Look, he has placed the land in front of you! Go up, take possession of it, just as the LORD, the God of your ancestors, said to do. Do not be afraid or discouraged! Deuteronomy 1:21

LISTEN : You don’t make progress by staying in one place and doing nothing. No matter your fears or challenges, you should keep moving. The Israelites like many of us today, seemed to have forgotten God’s promises to them. Moses had to remind them that, it is their responsibility to arise and go for what God has already given to them. My dear, you can’t obtain the promises of God by folding your hands and doing nothing (Deut 1:6-8). You must do your part to obtain it. You should go for your God-given possessions by faith. You must overcome your fears and discouragement. Moses urged them to not be afraid or discouraged. Fear will stop you when you take your eyes off God. Yes! Fear is a great force that is capable of crippling even the strongest person who chooses to walk in fear. So, to excel in life, you must overcome your fears and discouragement. Beloved, remind yourself that God is with you, therefore, you will triumph over all obstacles to your success. Be wise!

Prayer : Dear Lord, help me to keep moving even when the going gets tough. Thanks for helping me to achieve your purpose for my life, amen.
