Verse Of The Day : Be kindly affectionate to one another. Romans 12:10

LISTEN : Marriage is sweet, beautiful and honorable, and so does family; but not without challenges. One of the challenges of marriage and family is lack of communication. Communication is the act or process of using words, sounds, signs, or behaviours to express or exchange information or to express your ideas, thoughts, feelings, etc., to someone else. Lack of communication can raise suspicion and lack of confidence in marriage and family members. Besides, it can lead to numerous family and marriage problems such as, excessive marriage and family conflict, lack of intimacy, weak emotional bonding, ineffective problem solving, etc. It is true that love, trust and many other virtues are very important in marriage and family building, yet, communication has its place in them. It plays a vital role in keeping marriage partners and family members close to one another, and helps them avoid external negative influences. Like the godly family, marriage partners should have a feeling of liking and caring for each other. No matter their differences, they should live with each other with love and understanding. This is because, problems of marriage can better be resolved by understanding (Proverbs 24:3).

Without understanding, marriage will collapse without remedy. Understanding is the fuel and wheels with which marriage runs. With understanding, differences between husband and wife can be resolved wisely. But without it, marriage and family will run with difficulties. My dear, are you having communication problems in your marriage, family, or relationships? Do you think your partner is not giving you enough time? Please don’t forget that, you can’t have the same amount of time always. Therefore, marriage partners and family members should know that, they can’t have the same amount of time always. Activities can affect the amount of time available to them. However, they should keep their marriage and family strong during busy times by taking advantage of the little moments and spending them on one another. Beloved, remember to keep your marriage and family strong through communication. Be wise!

Bible Verse : Hezekiah was stricken with a terminal illness. He prayed to the LORD, who answered him…But Hezekiah was ungrateful; he had a proud attitude… . 2 Chronicles 32:24-25

LISTEN : Countless times we have been ungrateful to God like Hezekiah. Hezekiah was mortally sick and prayed to God and God healed him. Sadly, he took God’s mercy for granted. He was ungrateful to Him. He failed to thank God for His mercy, instead he was proud in his heart. He esteemed lightly the mercy of God. And the consequences of his action was the wrath of God upon him and his people. The Bible says, “But Hezekiah was ungrateful; he had a proud attitude, provoking God to be angry at him, as well as Judah and Jerusalem.” (2 Chronicles 32:25). Beloved, are you really grateful to God for all He has done for you? Do you have a grateful heart? A grateful heart will surely attract the favour of a great God. Your gratitude to God will determine what He will do, or not do for you. As you read this devotional today, pause for a moment and reflect on the goodness of God and give thanks to Him for all He has done for you, for others, and ultimately for our salvation and hope of eternal life. Be wise!

Prayer : Almighty God, you are so good to me. Help me to honour you for all you have done for me, in Jesus’ name, amen!
