Verse Of The Day : But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31

LISTEN : To retreat is to move back or away: to move back to get away from danger, attack, etc.; to withdraw for purpose of prayer, meditation, etc. On the other hand, to refresh is to renew or revitalise. It is to give new life, energy, activity or success to something. We often get tired of life because of problems associated with it. Sometimes we are stretched beyond our limits, but with God we can overcome (Romans 8:37). Pressure weighs down the body and reduces its strength. And we go through diverse troubles on a daily basis. Therefore, we should know when to retreat and refresh to be able to continue to function well, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. We should learn to go to God for strength. Those who wait upon the Lord cannot lack the strength needed for life and the service of God. Their strength will be renewed, and they will soar even in storms of life as eagles (Psalms 103:5). It is impossible to be empty of spiritual energy when you are connected to God. Yes, it is equally impossible to retreat when necessary, and not be refreshed by the Spirit of God.

The eagle is said to retreat and retire to the mountains when it is old and heavy to fly. It will begin a painful process of renewal that will last for 150 days. The eagle takes a hard decision to hit its bent and blunt beak on the rock until it is out, and will wait for it to grow back. Beyond that, it will shed its old and worn out feathers and wait for them to grow back; and will equally put off its blunt talons (claws) and wait for them to grow back with the capacity to grab its prey perfectly again. After all of these processes, the eagle is good to go, and full of strength again, and able to live more years ahead. Like the eagle, you should learn to retreat and renew yourself in the presence of God. Just as the eagle cannot soar without the wind, so also can the believer not thrive without the Spirit of God (John 15:5). So, learn to retreat and refresh and you will be glad you did. Be wise!

TOPIC : HAVE YOU ASKED?

Thursday, May 16, 2019

Bible Verse : Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened for you. Matthew 7:7

LISTEN : Before you complain, ask! Many people are good at complaining about everything, but finds it hard to pray to God about everything. My dear, talk to God about your problems. God honours those who are importunate in prayer. He blesses those who are tenacious in seeking to discover His will and receive His blessings. He will not ignore those who refuse to give up on prayer. He promises to respond when we sincerely ask, seek and knock on His door of grace. The Bible says, “For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened.” (Matthew 7:8). So, stop complaining and begin to ask, seek and knock on the door you want to open to you. Never forget that “not to ask is not to receive, not to seek is not to find ; and not to knock is to have yourself locked out of God’s blessings.” (James 4:2,3). Therefore, never miss any opportunity to ask, seek and knock on God’s door through prayers. Beloved, whatever your needs are, pray fervently and trust God to answer you. Be wise!

Prayer : Dear Lord, I thank you because you can do all things. Therefore, help me to ask and receive as promised in your word, in Jesus’ name, amen!
