Verse Of The Day : Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do all of you. Colosians 3:13
LISTEN : “It is too hard for me to forgive”, replies a man whose friend asked to forgive his greedy and wicked uncle who made him to spend thirty years in slavery. He continued his defense tearfully and said, “This man you are asking me to forgive killed my father and captured me, and sold me to some slave masters thirty years ago when I was thirty five. As a slave, I was tortured and tormented, and I laboured for my master in pain all these years. Now, my life has been completely shattered and my sunlight is turned into darkeness. Look at me, what can I do with my life at this age? So, telling me to forgive him is like telling me to begin to see you as one of my enemies.” Immediately his friend exclaimed, “No, my friend! Forgiving him can’t change the past, but it will change how you feel right now. Besides, you will have peace with God. Please allow God to be the judge.” Touched by his friend’s words, the man replied tearfully and stammeringly, “I forgive him!” I believe someone reading this devotional has same or similar situation like the man in this story. You have vowed that over your death body will you forgive your offender. Have you considered the forgiveness you received from God countless times? Do you think we deserve the mercy of God? Yet, He gave it to us (see Romans 5:8). It is a privilege to receive forgiveness for our sins, and a demonstration of maturity to give forgiveness to our offenders. My dear, share your grievance with those who offend you and forgive them for Christ’s sake. Beloved, learn to tolerate and forgive others, because life will be so frustrating and full of vindictive folks without tolerance and forgiveness. Be wise!

TOPIC : YOU CAN OVERCOME THE WORLD

Bible Verse : You are from God, little children, and have conquered them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. 1 John 4:4
LISTEN : Beloved, you can overcome the world. When Jesus Christ is at the center of your life victory is guaranteed. Through Him we have access to victory by our faith in Him. The Bible says, “For whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world: and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.” (1 John 5:4). Beloved, your faith is important to how you come out of your troubles. When your faith fails, your confidence is sure to collapse; and when your confidence drops, fear will dominate and paralyse you. Therefore, it is your responsibility to grow your faith. My dear, are you afraid of certain things in your life? Are you afraid of what the future holds for you? Are you worried about your health? Or your finances? Etc. Not to worry! God is greater than your problems. Invite Him into your life and you will experience His power. If God is in, and with you, victory is sure. (1 John 4:4). So don’t be afraid, for there is no reason to fear. God is with you. Remember, you can overcome the world. Be wise!
Prayer : Heavenly Father, you are my God. Therefore, I know I can overcome any battle by your power. Help me to overcome my battles, in Jesus’ name, amen!
