Author : Bishop Julius Okarike

Verse Of The Day : Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2

LISTEN : Godliness and the fear of God attracts persecution and trials. If you want to live in line with the will of God, then, be prepared for the hit. It will surely come but grace is available. Men will throw stones at you and make you go through horrible experiences because of your faith in Christ Jesus. They’ll hate and despise you for no just cause. To them, your crime is that, you choose to serve the living God with all your heart as against their own choice to believe otherwise. But the good news is that, life of godliness and the fear of God will always end in praise. What you suffer for Christ will produce what you’ll enjoy in Him. If you can’t throw away your confidence, God won’t cast you away from the gathering of His elects. The Bible says, “If we endure, we will also reign with him. If we deny him, he will also deny us.” (1 Timothy 2:12). My dear, you can’t reign with Christ if you’re not ready to take a bullet for the Christian faith. Therefore, to be greatly strengthened for the Christian faith, here are four things to do:

* Fix Your Eyes On Jesus Christ – Jesus Christ is the author and finisher of our faith. As a matter of fact, what you’re starting right now he has already completed in you. Just fix your eyes on Him. Your eyes can’t be on Christ and you miss your steps and slide into hell. So, stop looking at situations and start to look at the Saviour Jesus Christ.

* Run With Patience – you can’t run to the end of the Christian journey if you’re not ready to run with patience. My dear, don’t forget that, there’ll be delays on the way, persecution, trials, heartbreak, disappointment, discouragement, etc., and if you’re not exercising patience you’ll grow faint and quit your faith.

* Don’t Be Ashamed Of Your Conviction – you should be proud of the Christian faith and our Saviour Jesus Christ. Never be ashamed of your conviction. When you’re ashamed of your conviction you’re ashamed of yourself and whom you believe.

* Be Motivated By Eternal Reward – God has a reward for anyone who believes in Him. He never uses and abandon anyone who trust in Him. So, don’t faint. Rather, worship God with all your heart (Colosians 3:23-24). If you walk with God knowing that, He has eternal rewards for you, you’ll go where He leads and do what He says. Be wise!

Having read today’s devotional, what’s expected of you?
1. Never allow anyone or anything to distract you from staying committed to your faith in God.
2. No matter the thorns and thistles on the way, determine to be motivated by your eternal rewards.
3. Share your faith with others and don’t be ashamed of Christ Jesus.
4. When you encounter trials, endure; and run the race before you with patience.

Prayer : Dear Lord, I thank you because you’re my strength. Help me to run the race before me with patience and joy, amen!

Reflection : You can’t reign with Christ if you’re not ready to take a bullet for the Christian faith.

Quote : “A journey with God is always tough and full of persecution and trials; yet, the life of godliness and the fear of God will always end in praise.”

Faith Confession : In Jesus’ name, today, I confess that, I will run the race before me with patience, faith and joy, amen!

Biblical Fact : Did you know Absalom conspired with the Israelites to dethrone his father David? (2 Samuel 15:13-14).

Today In History : August 3, 1553 Mary Tudor, the new Queen of England, enters London.

Stunning Fact : Did you know a lobsters blood is colorless but when exposed to oxygen it turns blue?

A Word Of Blessing : It’s well with you. Today, I prophesy to you, may God help you to finish your race faithfully. May you not end on the way. May you end well, amen!

EVENING

TOPIC : BE AFRAID OF THE JUDGMENT OF GOD

Saturday, August 3, 2019

Bible Verse : My flesh trembles for fear of you. I am afraid of your judgments. Psalms 119:120

LISTEN : God is awesomely glorious in holiness. He’s worthy of our reverential fear. His fear keeps us from His judgment. Those who fear God are wise, and can’t attract His wrath. My dear, God should be revered and praised in all the earth. His presence should instill awe in us. There is none like Him in all the earth in power, glory, might, holiness, greatness, wisdom, etc. His faithfulness is for all generations. Those who know the Lord trembles at His presence in reverential fear. Not just because He can kill, but because He is good. They bow and worship at His feet for there is none like Him in power and authority. In our bible verse of the day the Psalmist said, “My flesh trembles for fear of you. I am afraid of your judgments.” (Psalms 119:120). Truly, the righteous knows that God’s judgment on sin is fierce, and therefore will do everything possible to stay out of it. My dear, God does’nt handle sin with kid’s gloves, therefore, avoid it. Henceforth, let’s serve Him in fear and honour, and He’ll bless us. Be wise!

Prayer : Almighty God, I thank you for the blessings of your word. Help me to fear and honour you for the rest of my life, in Jesus’ name, amen.
