Verse Of The Day : For he will repay everyone according to what that person has done. Romans 2:6

LISTEN : Watch your action and save your future. Reckless action will amount to reckless end. Yes, you will lose or gain by your actions. A story about an elderly carpenter from Andres Lara’s book titled, “Inspire The Sleeping Giant Within”, is very useful to today’s devotional. In this story, an elderly carpenter told his contractor of his plans to retire. The contractor asked him to build one more house as a personal favour. The carpenter agreed to do it. But, this time, he did not put his heart into his work; he used cheap materials and bad workmanship. When he finished the house, the contractor came by and told him, “Here is the key to the front door. This house is my gift to you for your years of service.” What a shock! If he had known he was building his own house, he would have done it all so differently. Now he had to live the rest of his life with the guilt of his actions. My dear, think of yourself as the carpenter. Your actions have consequences. If only we could consider the consequences of our actions, we will be more careful with what we do or say. Our Bible verse says, “For he will repay everyone according to what that person has done.” (Romans 2:6). God will reward us according to our works. So, if you invest in evil, be prepared for harvest of sorrow and shame. And if you invest in goodness and godliness, be prepared for eternal life and bliss (Galatians 6:7; Matthew 16:27). Therefore, don’t be careless in life, rather, examine your actions regularly and stay connected to God. So, watch your actions and save your future. Be wise!

Having read today’s devotional, what is expected of you?
1. Regularly access your actions and make sure they are in line with God’s will.
2. Always be conscious of God’s judgment, and be careful with what you do with your life.
3. Have the fear of God and determine to value Him above all else.
4. Learn to invest in goodness and godliness, knowing that, your labour is not in vain.

Prayer : Heavenly Father, I know you will reward everyone according to what they have done. Therefore, help me to live in line with your will, in Jesus’ name, amen!

Reflection : He who invest in evil, should prepare for a harvest of sorrow and shame.

Quote : “He who watches his actions will save his future from destruction.”

Faith Confession : In Jesus’ name, I confess that God will reward us in line with what we have done. Therefore, I will be conscious of my actions henceforth, amen!

Biblical Fact : Did you know when Abraham died, God transferred the blessing to his son Isaac? (Genesis 25:11).

Today In History : December 30, 2006 Saddam Hussein, former Iraq dictator, is executed by hanging for crimes committed against his own people during his rule.

Stunning Fact : Did you know gorillas sleep 14 hours a day?

A Word Of Blessing : In Jesus’ name, I speak on your life, you will make a difference. May you be conscious of your actions. May you live to please God always, in Jesus’ name, amen!

EVENING

TOPIC : PAY ATTENTION TO WISE COUNSEL

Monday, December 30, 2019

Bible Verse : Now listen to me, I will give you advice, and may God be with you… Exodus 18:19

LISTEN : Wise counsel shapes our understanding and blesses our future. Jethro, Moses’s father-in-law counseled him on how to go about his leadership to be successful. Though he was not as spiritual as Moses, yet, Moses accepted his counsel as better than the method he already adopted. My dear, no one can truly be successful when wise counsel is neglected or despised. The wise seeks the right counsel, while the foolish detests and ignores it. The wise believes that no one has monopoly of knowledge, hence, he listens to what others have to say in a given situation, and apply the counsels received if seen to work better in his situations. But that is not the case with the foolish. He believes that his ideas are enough for him, hence, he will always fail woefully. Beloved, do you find it difficult to take advice from other people? Do you feel too big to listen to wise counsels from others? Then, you have a big problem. To excel, learn to humble yourself like Moses, and receive wise counsel from others. Henceforth, determine to pay attention to wise counsel. Be wise!

Prayer : Dear Lord, help me to accept wise counsel from others and not disregard them, in Jesus’ name, amen.
