Verse Of The Day : Teach me your way, O LORD; I will walk in your truth: unite my heart to fear your name. Psalms 86:11

LISTEN : Are you in church to encounter God or to find fault with Him and His people? Are you in church for a selfish reason or divine transformation? Couple of months ago. I told the story that, one Sunday morning before delivering his sermon for the day, a Pastor asks few of his church members thus : “Why are you in church today?” The first person replied, “Pastor, I am hear because today is a Sunday.” The second person said, “Sir, I am here so I could see other members of the church, because it’s been a while since I saw them.” The third person said, “Pastor, I am here because I am a committed member of this church. Besides, I was born into the church.” The fourth person said, “Pastor, I am sick. I am here to receive my healing.” The Pastor was shocked with their answers and never wanted to ask the fifth person. However, he reluctantly asked her and said, “Sister, what about you?” To the surprise of the Pastor, she replied, “Pastor, I am here to encounter God. I want to know Him more and more.” The Pastor was so happy that, there was still someone who knew why she was in Church. My dear, the answers in this illustration represent the lifestyle of people in Church today. Many come to God for selfish reasons. They are not in Church to encounter God through His words, but to find faults and dictate to Him what He should do. They are not prepared to be led by the Spirit of God, but by self. My dear, to encounter God you must be ready to learn and appreciate His words, trust and obey Him always. The word of God is the pathway to life. There is no life in anyone who chooses to abandon the ways of God. Beloved, God’s way gives direction and meaning to life. His ways are the “highways” of righteousness, holiness, godliness, obedience, faith, truth, dedication, peace, love, etc. Therefore, submit to God, walk in His ways, fear Him always and determine to encounter Him when you read or hear His word. Be wise!

Having read today’s devotional, what is expected of you?

2. Always prepare to encounter God in every church meeting.
3. Learn to walk in the fear of God and to serve Him faithfully.

Prayer : Dear Lord, your way is the path of life. Therefore, teach me to know your ways, and make me to live both in your truth and fear, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Reflection : The Church is a place of encounter with God and not a place for gossip and fault-finding.

Quote : “He who loves God genuinely demonstrates it through obedience and fear for Him.”

Faith Confession : In Jesus ‘ name. I confess that the ways of God are not our ways. Therefore, I will seek and follow His ways as long as I live, amen.

TOPIC : HAVE YOU TASTED THE BREAD OF LIFE

Monday, May 11, 2020

Bible Verse : I am the bread of life. Your ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. This is the bread that has come down from heaven, so that a person may eat from it and not die. John 6:48-50

LISTEN : Beloved, have you tasted the bread of life. The truth is, nothing can truly satisfy in this life, until you have eaten the bread that comes from heaven. This food that comes from heaven is supernatural and life-giving. And he who taste of it will never die. My dear, Jesus Christ is that great meal. He is the bread that comes from heaven. His body like bread, was broken for us on calvary cross, and his blood was shed for the forgiveness of our sins. And if you have not tasted Him, you will continue to search endlessly for satisfaction. So, come to Jesus Christ today, and do not labour just for the food that will perish, rather labour for the bread of life which endures unto everlasting life; and only Jesus Christ the Son of God can give it to you (John 6:27). My dear, focus your attention more on eternity than the temporal world. Remember that this world will pass away and everything in it. Only those who live for God will overcome. (Matthew 24:13). Beloved, real life is only in Christ Jesus. He is the bread of life, whose strength and efficacy leads to eternal life. So, remember that, Jesus Christ is the meal from heaven; come, eat and live. Be wise!

Payer : Eternal Father, feed me with the bread of life until I hunger no more, amen!
