Verse Of The Day : Search the scriptures; for in them you think you have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. John 5:39

LISTEN : Regular visit to the word of God (the Bible) has been neglected today. People, especially our youths prefer books that will corrupt their minds and negatively affect their behaviour instead of the Bible which is capable of transforming and building them up in line with the will of God. Little or no time is given to better our spiritual life. Beloved, when you woke up this morning, what did you do? Before you left your house this morning for work, what did you do? And what will you be doing when you retire for the day? Visit Facebook and Whatsapp? Stay online for hours? Watch your favourite movies? Chat endlessly with friends, right? My dear, do you also consider reading your Bible? (Acts 17:11). Do you have time to study and meditate in the word of God? In His message to His audience Jesus Christ said, “Search the scriptures; for in them you think you have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.” (John 5:39) Beloved, we are commanded to search the scriptures. That is, to consciously read, study and meditate in the word of God. God’s word should not be handled carelessly or with a divided attention; but rather with dedication and seriousness. God’s word is key to life, hence, to ignore the word of God is to be denied of eternal life. So, give quality time to studying and meditating in the word of God. If you must know God and Jesus Christ His son, it must be by the knowledge of scriptures. So, do not neglect to study the Bible, instead, give quality time to it, because it is the key to knowing God. Be wise!

TOPIC: REJOICE IN THE WORD OF GOD

Bible Verse : I rejoice at your word, as one that finds great spoil. Psalms 119:162

LISTEN : Beloved, do you rejoice in the word of God? Does His word makes you happy? Different people have different things that make them happy. However, when what makes them happy disappears they suffer heartbreak. Beloved, to be continuously happy we should embrace the word of God. Friend, does the word of God excites you? Do you know God’s word is key to life. Yes, God’s word is life. His word should trigger joy in us because it comes with countless benefits. However, we cannot enjoy these benefits until we have developed hunger for the word. When we hunger for His word we will draw strength from it. What does it mean to hunger for God’s word? It means to be excited by God’s word and to long for righteousness. The Psalmist said, “I rejoice at your word, as one that finds great spoil.” (Psalms 119:162) So, if you cannot find joy in God’s word you do not have hunger for it. You should value God’s word more than self- satisfaction and above all else. Job said, “I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food” (Job 23:12). Beloved, when God’s Word is as important to you as your physical food, then you will grow in your Christian life and knowledge of God. May your heart not be spiritually dry and empty of God’s word, amen. Be wise!
