Verse Of The Day: And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel, and I will bless them. Numbers 6:27

LISTEN: God has a good plan for His people. He want them (us) to receive His blessings and prosper in their various endeavours; however, not without obedience to Him. Our God is a God of order, He does not permit disorderliness, disrespect or contempt to His instructions. He is orderly, and demand that His people maintain orderliness in their relationship with Him, and in the discharge of their respective duties. He equally want us to express regard and respect for spiritual leaders in the body of Christ (Church).

In a gathering, organisation, or the society, people are elected or appointed into positions of leadership. These positions comes with some level of authority, responsibilities, and certain rights and privileges. In the same way, God designed that His people, the body of Christ (the church) should be superintended and guided by His chosen servants. The priests, (pastors or ministers of God) are positioned in the church of God not only to preach the word of God, have oversight of the church, but also to serve as channels of blessing to members of the body of Christ. They are called to both feed the church with God’s word and His blessings.

The bible says, ” And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying, Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, Likewise all of you shall bless the children of Israel, saying unto them, The LORD bless you, and keep you: The LORD make his face shine upon you, and be gracious unto you: The LORD lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace. And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel, and I will bless them. (Numbers 6 22 – 27). Beloved, it was not difficult for God to bless the Israelites without involving the priests; however, He want them to know that He value obedience and respect for authority, especially spiritual authority.

Beloved, do you know that if you disregard and disrespect God’s chosen servant you disrespect God? It is so sad that a lot of people does not have regard for God’s servants. Not having regard for God’s servant, expresses the fact that you do not have regard for God as well. If you are a person who does not value God’s chosen servant, or servants who are placed over you, then, you cannot value God. Beloved, do not forget that you cannot be blessed by the one you despise. God commanded the priests to bless the children of Israel in His name, and after that He will confirm the blessing. (Numbers 6 : 27). Henceforth, learn to respect and honour God’s servants and you will attract the Lord’s blessing.

Having read today’s devotional, what is expected of you?
1. Do not disrespect or disregard the spiritual leaders God places over you, rather honour and obey them.
2. Learn to submit and respect God’s chosen servants no matter their status and your personal opinion of them.
3. Do not take the prophetic declaration from God’s servant lightly, rather key into it and be blessed.
4. No matter the familiarity or closeness with your spiritual leader, do not take him lightly.

Daily Task: Learn to respect your pastors, especially those who faithfully labour painstakingly for the gospel of Christ at all times.

Daily Reflection: You cannot be blessed by the one you despise, disregard, disrespect and esteemed lightly; to do all of those to God, is to forfeit His blessings.

Daily Prophetic Declaration: Today, by the authority of the name of Jesus, I prophesy over your life, may the LORD bless you, and keep you: may the LORD make his face shine upon you, and be gracious unto you: may the LORD lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace, in Jesus’ name.
