THE INESCAPABLE GOD AWAITS US IN ETERNITY

Author : Bishop Julius Okarike

Verse Of The Day : For it is written, “‘As I live,’ says the Lord, ‘to me every knee will bow. Every tongue will confess to God.’” So then each one of us will give account of himself to God. Romans 14:11-12

LISTEN : “You will not get away with your evil activities for too long”, says a woman to her criminal daughter. Her daughter replied, “Mummy, I own my life. So, let me live it the way I want to live.” Her mother tearfully replied, “Just know that, someday, you would remember my wasted warnings and counsels on you; by then it would be too late for you.” Beloved, we can’t reject God for too long. Yes, we can’t avoid Him forever. If we treat Him today with disdain and contempt He will treat us with everlasting condemnation and rejection. You may choose to work without God in the world today, but you won’t escape Him in eternity. Sooner or later you will meet Him. The truth is, the inescapable God awaits us in eternity. We had better be at peace with Him here, and be in the centre of His will now! He is at the end of the finish line. When your journey here is over you will unavoidably meet Him to give account of your life. Do you want to do that with wailing and gnashing of teeth? Or with joy and dancing? My dear, this is a moment of decision. What you do now would determine what becomes of you in eternity. If you live just to please yourself and satisfy your flesh you would spend eternity in endless torment and regret (Luke 16:19-26 ). But if you live to please God no matter the cost, you would spend eternity in the paradise of God. Be wise!

Having read today’s devotional, what is expected of you?
1. Make your way straight before God and stop being crooked.
2. Never forget the fact that after life in the earth, you would meet God to give account of yourself.
3. Determine to live in obedience to God and refuse every temptation to do otherwise.
4. Reflect on your life daily and make necessary adjustments to live in line with God’s will.

Prayer : Eternal God! I thank You for opening my eyes to Your words. Help me to prepare for eternity as I live daily here in the earth. In Jesus ‘ name.

Reflection : Accept or reject it. The inescapable God awaits us in eternity. Hence, if you live anyhow, you would see anyhow.

Quote : “We can’t reject God for too long. We can’t avoid Him forever. If we treat Him today with disdain, He would treat us with everlasting condemnation and rejection.”

Faith Confession : In Jesus ‘ name. I confess that God awaits us in eternity. Therefore, I will serve and worship God to escape eternal judgment, amen.

Biblical Fact : Did you know God did not destroy Sodom and Gomorral until Lot entered into Zoar? (Genesis 19:23).

Today In History : May 10, 1994 Nelson Mandela is sworn in as South Africa’s first black president.

Stunning Fact : Did you know a hippopotamus can run faster than a man?

A Word Of Blessing : It is well with you. May you not miss heaven. And may your labour not be in vain. In Jesus ‘ name.

EVENING

TOPIC : WE ARE ONE IN CHRIST

Sunday, May 10, 2020

Bible Verse : But the one who hates his fellow Christian is in the darkness, walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes. 1 John 2:11

LISTEN : We are one family in Christ. Yes, we are one glorious and happy family in Christ Jesus no matter our background, colour, size, race, etc., and should be bound together in love. As Christians we belong to God through Christ Jesus. But we cannot understand this fact until we put on the new nature – the nature of God. My dear, love is the nature of God (1 John 4:8). We cannot walk in love at the same time hate one another. Besides, we can’t claim to worship God if there is no love for Him and humanity (1John 4:20,21). Love for humanity, especially those who belong to God is pleasing to Him. We should love others dearly and unconditionally. We should show interest in the well-being of others and make sacrifices towards their well-being. That is the nature of God. God is love and does everything in love. Therefore, once we have received His love as His children, He expects us to love others just the same way he loves us and not hate them. The Bible says,“Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love” (1 John 4:8). Beloved, let us love one another for we are one family in Christ Jesus. Be wise!

Prayer : Dear LORD! I thank you for loving me unconditionally. Therefore, help me to love others, in Jesus’ name, amen.
