Verse Of The Day: Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 1 Peter 5 : 6

LISTEN: It is said that, “The way up is first the way down.” That is, to go up you must first come down. To achieve your dreamed height (promotion) in life, you should start from the ground. Humility is the way to the top. It is a vital key to exaltation. ‘It is the ladder with which you can climb the mount of success.’ It is a principle that cannot be broken. As it is in the spiritual, so it is in the physical. To undermine humility is undermine promotion. People promotes those they believed to be loyal to them. No reasonable person can promote a disloyal or high-handed fellow, because that will be to ones detriment. In the same way, God cannot exalt the proud. He has no business with the proud because such lifestyle is an abomination to Him. Beloved, are you humble, especially to God? Do you esteem Him above yourself, all you have, and all you are? Do you ever trust His judgment, guidance and decisions? Do you heed His warnings and obey His orders? A lot of people are not humble to God. They do not acknowledge Him as sovereign and almighty who knows our needs and cares about us; as a result have made themselves enemies of God.

In our verse of the day, the bible said we should humble ourselves under God’s mighty hand so that he may exalt us in due season. What does it mean to humble yourself under God’s mighty hand? Why do you suppose the Bible has so much to say about being humble? God cares about us. He is mighty. He calls us to humble ourselves under Him. Not because He is a controlling God that wants you to bow down to Him because you are nothing, rather because He wants to exalt us and care for us. When we humble ourselves, that is when we truly worship Him. We are trusting Him with what is going on in our lives and believing He is the provider instead of ourselves. Are you ready to humble yourself under the mighty hands of God today? Then confess your sin to Him (Luke 18:9-14); Acknowledge your sin to others and apologise when you are wrong (James 3:2, James 5:16); be self-controlled and take wrong patiently (1 Peter 3:8-17); actively submit to authority…the good and the bad (1 Peter 2:18); and receive correction and feedback from others graciously and listen to what God is saying (Proverbs 10:17, 12:1). Beloved, let us humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God, for in due time He will exalt us.
