Verse Of The Day: And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Matthew 27 : 46

LISTEN: Heartbreak hurts because it steals people’s joy and peace of mind. Truly, what breaks your heart threatens your peace. A sense of rejection, disappointment, frustration, etc. break the heart. If you have ever had a broken heart, you understand how it feels. It often feels like your heart is disintegrating into tiny pieces. Most times we tend to pretend by putting on a happy face, just to cover up. But then the night comes, and we find ourselves lying in bed, tears streaming down our faces and the weight of the hurt heavy on our chests. Sometimes it is difficult to believe if we will ever make it to the next day, and worst of all, we feel completely alone and forsaken. Beloved, Jesus Christ knew this feeling. He knows exactly how it hurts. When he hung on the cross, betrayed, rejected, mocked, exposed and beaten by those he loved, he felt completely alone and heartbroken. The Bible says he cried out “My God, my God, why did you abandon me?” (Matthew 27:46).

The only begotten Son of God had his moments of rejection and loneliness. But was he truly rejected? Was he really alone? Of course not! God was with him, though He (God) kept silent until after three days when He replied the earth by bringing him back to life gloriously. Beloved, is your heart broken because your husband left you? Or your parents abandoned you? Is your child rebellious and had stopped speaking to you? Is your heartbreak as a result of lost of your loved one? Or as a result of suffering from a life-threatening illness? As hard as these situations are, we can find comfort in God’s Word! God never promised a life without heartache, but His Word gives us promises to hold on to when those times come. Beloved, you are not alone, so do not panic because God is nearer than you think. (Psalms 34 : 18). He will strengthen you beyond your wildest imagination. (Psalms 71 : 20). Whatever you go through God is with you all the way. ( Isaiah 43:1) Just put your trust in Him, He has a big plan for your life, and will not allow you to suffer endlessly. (Jeremiah 29 : 11 ; Psalms 30 : 5 ; Romans 8 : 28)
