Verse Of The Day: I left here full, but the LORD has caused me to return empty-handed. Why do you call me ‘Naomi,’ seeing that the LORD has opposed me, and the Sovereign One has caused me to suffer?” Ruth 1:21

LISTEN: “My heart is totally broken and I can’t take it anymore”, says a woman to her Christian friend. Her friend replied, “Please, don’t say that. Trust me, you can overcome your troubles. So, when your heart is broken, look unto God.” Beloved, that’s equally my words to you today. Don’t be discouraged, rather look unto God and you’ll increase in faith. No matter the situation, relax! God is in control. My dear, You might be shaken by circumstances of life, but God’s plans for you can’t be thwarted. You might be surrounded by darkness and hopelessness, but certainly there is ‘light at the end of the tunnel.’ Our verse of the day is about Naomi and her husband Elimelech and their two sons, Mahlon and Chilion, who went out of Bethlehem of Judah to Moab for survival for there was famine in their own land. Alas, what looks to them like a breakthrough became a heartbreak, for she lost her husband and her two sons in ten years. Obviously, it was a heartbreaking experience for Naomi and her daughters’ in law – Orpah and Ruth. As a matter of fact, she refused to be addressed by her name – Naomi, which means pleasant, but by her condition – bitterness (Marah). Though her life was messed up by tragedy, but God compensated her in the end through her dedicated daughter in law – Ruth, who incredibly became the woman who gave birth to Obed, Obed to Jesse, Jesse to David down to our Lord Jesus Christ. What a massive blessing after a rain of tragedy and misfortune! Beloved, is your story similar to Naomi’s, or worse than that? Cheer up. It’s not yet over with you (Lamentations 3:37). Just put your trust in God. If your heart is heavy today with sorrow, you’ll surely smile tomorrow when the sun of divine intervention shall gracefully shine on you. Be wise!

TOPIC : BE A LOVER OF GOD’S WORD

Tuesday, April 21, 2020

Bible Verse : But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law does he meditate day and night. Psalms 1:2

LISTEN : God rules by His words. He blesses and curses by His words. He punishes the wicked and vindicates the righteous by His words. The truth is, God’s word is powerful. When you go with the word you go with power. Our love for God will increase our love for His word. When you take the word of God serious, you’ll discover more of God. My dear, are there benefits in delighting in the word of God? Will God’s word make you better than you are? Yes, the word of God is a refiner. It brings the best in us. Because God’s word is pure, it purifies anyone who values it. The Bible says, “The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.” (Psalms 12:6). Yes, the word of God revives, refreshes and reforms people. The Bible says, The law of the Lord is good, giving new life to the soul: the witness of the Lord is certain, giving wisdom to the foolish” (Psalms 19:7). Truly, when the word of God is present in a person’s life, transformation will occur; a sinner will be changed into a saint, hope will be given to the hopeless, bitterness will be turned to sweetness ; and shame will be turned into glory. Besides, God’s word is a way maker. It gives directions and enables those who esteem it highly to be successful and prevail in life. So, be a lover of God’s word and you’ll enjoy its benefits. Be wise!

Prayer : Dear Lord! Your word is true and active. Therefore, help me to love your words as long as I live, amen
