Verse Of The Day : Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. James 5:13

Life often seems miserable with afflictions. If people are to choose, no one will permit afflictions close to themselves. When affliction visits, people tend to think that, life will never be the same again. Indeed, affliction is “a thorn in the flesh.” The pitiable state of humanity could be summarised in one word, “affliction”. Affliction is the state of being afflicted : the cause of persistent pain, distress and great suffering. My dear, are you afflicted? Are you suffering? And your suffering seems to have no end? Not to worry! Talk to God about it. Our verse of the day says, “Is any among you afflicted? let him pray.”(James 5:13). Just that? You may ask. Yes, just that. Tell God your concerns and drop your questions with Him. He has answers to them all. Prayer brings God’s attention to your problems. If you can pray sincerely to Him, He will give solutions to your problems. You haven’t received solutions to your problems yet, because, you choose to handle it yourself. The Bible says,”You desire and you do not have. . .because you do not ask.” (James 4:3). When you ask, I assure you, you’ll receive from God. (see Matthew 7:7,8). No matter the affliction, pray; and never rely on your own strength. Always remember that what your strength can’t carry God can carry it. Pray until God hears you. So, when you’re afflicted, pray, have faith in God, never lose hope, be strong and courageous; and never complain or write off yourself. Be wise!

Having read today’s devotional, what is expected of you?
1. Talk to God about your problems and trust Him to help you.
2. Don’t quit praying, rather pray until you receive.
3. No matter what, determine to keep your hope alive and know that God will surely answer you.
4. Don’t be afraid or worry about your problems, instead, pray and exercise faith in God.

TOPIC : THE LORD’S CHOSEN

Bible Verse : And today the LORD has declared you to be his special people as he already promised you so you may keep all his commandments. Deuteronomy 26:18

LISTEN : God loves you because you are His chosen vessel. You are a partaker of His covenant with Abraham. The Israelites became a special people to God by way of God’s covenant with Abraham. (Galatians 3:7). In the same way, we believers in Christ Jesus are made a special people through the covenant blood of Jesus Christ. My dear, you’re God’s chosen! You’re of great value to Him. Never allow anyone or anything to make you feel less of yourself. No matter the circumstance, believe that you’re what God says you are. Satan wants you to believe the opposite of God’s good plans for your life. He wants you to doubt God’s promises. He wants you to believe that you’ve been rejected and forsaken.(Psalms 27:10). He wants you to believe that all hope is lost and your life is worthless. (Psalms 27:14 ; Psalms 130:5). He wants you to believe that your condition has no solution. He wants you to be depressed and die worrying about your problems. My dear, relax your mind. God is in control. Remember, whoever God chooses He protects and provides for his or her needs. You belong to God, therefore, be thankful to Him. Be wise!

Prayer : Dear Lord, your word is true, and your promises are sure. Help me to truly rely on your words at all times, in Jesus‘ name, amen.
