Verse Of The Day: But when Jesus heard what they said, he told the synagogue leader, “Stop being afraid! Just keep on believing.” Mark 5:36

LISTEN: People are quick to waver in their faith when temptation and tribulation come knocking at their doors. They tend to surrender to fear and worry than they are to surrender to God. However, we have a man in our verse of the day with a different spirit, even the spirit of faith. He is a leader of the synagogue of the Jews by the name of Jairus. He came to Jesus Christ to ask for healing for his sick daughter who was dying. Jesus having accepted to go to his house with him, was however delayed by the woman with the issue of blood, who just received her healing by her rugged faith. (Mark 5:25-34). As he (Jesus) was addressing the case of the woman with the issue of blood, messengers from Jairus’s house came to inform Jairus of the death of his daughter some few hours before (Mark 5:35). The Bible recorded, ” While he was still speaking, some people came from the synagogue leader’s home and said, “Your daughter is dead. Why bother the Teacher anymore?” Beloved, just few persons can withstand this sort of heartbreaking news.

The messengers from his house said to him, ”Your daughter is dead”. Oh! What a bad news. It was a faith weakening and destroying news. Notice that Jairus came to Jesus Christ by faith; but now, it is obvious and natural that his faith will instantly be punctured or shakened. Although, Jesus Christ was still speaking to the woman with the issue of blood when He heard their message, but confronted it immediately and said to Jairus, ” “Stop being afraid! Just keep on believing.” (Mark 5:36). Jairus obeyed Him and was not disappointed. His daughter was eventually restored to life. Beloved, does your situation seem hopeless like that of Jairus? Are you disturbed by some life threatening situations in your life? Are you down with a disease and it seems you are going to lose your life? Is your world shaking and about to crash? Do not worry yourself! I bring you the message of God, the same word that Jesus Christ gave to Jairus – “Stop being afraid! Just keep on believing.” Your miracle is on the way. If you stand firm in the faith like Jairus, the same power that brought back his daughter to life will give you your testimonies (Jeremiah 32 : 27). Therefore, determine to grow unwavering faith and you will stand tall in trials and tribulations.
