Verse Of The Day: Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that does good is of God: but he that does evil have not seen God. 3 John 1:11

LISTEN: Jesus Christ is the path that leads to life. His ways are the paths of righteousness, holiness, goodness, love and living in the will of God. Besides, his love prevents us from following the wrong path and missing the will of God for our lives. Sadly, most people are yet confused today about what to do to stay safe and godly in this wicked world. They are confused about who to follow, or what to do to avoid the devil’s ‘traps.’ Satan has made these traps very hard to discover without the help of God because they come in form of pleasure, favour, popularity, wealth, temptation, etc. Unfortunately, many who are ignorant of his schemes have ended up in his trap (prison). Besides, a lot of people who started as obedient, committed and loyal children of God are now ending up as disobedient and uncommitted folks to Him. However, if we are wise enough, we cannot fall prey to the devil. Beloved, the devil can only enslave those who reject the leadership of God. Anyone who surrenders sincerely to the Lordship of Jesus Christ cannot continue to remain a slave to Satan.

In preaching to His audience Jesus Christ said, “I tell you the solemn truth, the one who hears my message and believes the one who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned, but has crossed over from death to life.” (John 5 : 24). Beloved, the only way to escape Satan’s traps is to hear and obey the word of God. When we obey and believe the word of God we will never again be condemned, but receive eternal life through Christ Jesus. Therefore, we should follow the will of God if we must escape the devil’s trap. Our verse of the day says, ” Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that does good is of God: but he that does evil have not seen God.” (3 John 1:11). This means that, we should watch, examine and prove every idea, principle, opinion, trend, belief, etc., before accepting to act on, or adopt them as our own standards. We must not do anything just because everyone else is doing it, rather we should do it because we have proven it to be the perfect and acceptable will of God. (Romans 12 : 2 ; Ephesians 5 : 10)

Having read today’s devotional, what is expected of you?
1. Always prove the acceptable will of God in everything before you act.
2. Determine to follow what is good and avoid what is bad.
3. Be obedient and loyal to God at all times no matter what.
4. Open your eyes to the tricks of the devil and avoid his destructive enticement.
